Falls cottage is an excellent base for walking in the Dales and is surrounded by many different walks to meet all fitness levels and ages.
Thornton ForceThere is of course the Ingleton waterfalls walk which is perhaps the most famous. It begins just a 2 minute walk from your cottage and stretches for 4.5 miles through some truly spectacular scenery and stunning waterfalls.

The walk up Ingleborough also begins just moments walk from your cottage and takes you along several well maintained paths up the 2372 ft peak to a reward of far ranging views of the local area. At the top are the remains of a battlement round tower built in 1830. Also there lies the few remains of a Roman fort. The walk is about 7.5 miles from Ingleton to the summit and back again so makes for a good, healthy workout.

If you are feeling the need for more of a challenge then the whole 3 peaks can be walked in a circular route of some 26 miles. If you want to give it go then starting at the Pen-y-ghent cafe in Horton-in-Ribblesdale will give you the opportunity of joining the unique 'Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club' on your return. The book 'Walks in Limestone Country' written by the legendary Alfred Wainwright covers many walks around Ingleton mainly for families as they are arranged to begin and end in places where a car may be easily parked.
